Mechanics of Materials Volume 1, Third Edition : An Introduction to the Mechanics of Elastic and Plastic Deformation of Solids

E J Hearn, "Mechanics of Materials Volume 1, Third Edition: An Introduction to the Mechanics of Elastic and Plastic Deformation of Solids and Structural Materials"
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann | Number Of Pages: 450 | 1997-08-01 | ISBN: 0750632658 | PDF | 19 MB

One of the most important subjects for any student of engineering to master is the behaviour of materials and structures under load. The way in which they react to applied forces, the deflections resulting and the stresses and strains set up in the bodies concerned are all vital considerations when designing a mechanical component such that it will not fail under predicted load during its service lifetime.

All the essential elements of a treatment of these topics are contained within this course of study, starting with an introduction to the concepts of stress and strain, shear force and bending moments and moving on to the examination of bending, shear and torsion in elements such as beams, cylinders, shells and springs. A simple treatment of complex stress and complex strain leads to a study of the theories of elastic failure and an introduction to the experimental methods of stress and strain analysis.

More advanced topics are dealt with in a companion volume - Mechanics of Materials 2. Each chapter contains a summary of the essential formulae which are developed in the chapter, and a large number of worked examples which progress in level of difficulty as the principles are enlarged upon. In addition, each chapter concludes with an extensive selection of problems for solution by the student, mostly examination questions from professional and academic bodies, which are graded according to difficulty and furnished with answers at the end.

* Emphasis on practical learning and applications, rather than theory
* Provides the essential formulae for each individual chapter
* Contains numerous worked examples and problems

ISBN: 1402046952

Title: Mechatronics: Dynamics of Electromechanical and Piezoelectric Systems

(Solid Mechanics and Its Applications)

Author: A. Preumont

Publisher: Springer (September 25, 2006)

Publication Date: 2006-09-25

Number Of Pages: 207

This volume treats Lagrange equations for electromechanical systems, including piezoelectric transducers and selected applications. It is essentially an extension to piezoelectric systems of the work by Crandall et al.:"Dynamics of Mechanical and Electromechanical Systems", McGraw-Hill, published in 1968. The first three chapters contain classical material based on this and other well-known standard texts in the field, such as Methods of Analytical Dynamics by L. Meirovitch, McGraw-Hill, 1970. Some applications are new (e.g. geophone). Chapters 4 to 6 consist of new material which has not been published in a monograph before. They deal with piezoelectric systems in a unified way, starting from a Lagrangian approach. This book will appeal to the research community and graduate students at the MSc and PhD level

Mechatronics: Principles and Applications

Mechatronics is a core subject for engineers, combining elements of mechanical and electronic engineering into the development of computer-controlled mechanical devices such as DVD players or anti-lock braking systems. This book is the most comprehensive text available for both mechanical and electrical engineering students and will enable them to engage fully with all stages of mechatronic system design. It offers broader and more integrated coverage than other books in the field with practical examples, case studies and exercises throughout and an Instructor’s Manual. A further key feature of the book is its integrated coverage of programming the PIC microcontroller, and the use of MATLAB and Simulink programming and modelling, along with code files for downloading from the accompanying website.

The Science and Engineering of Materials - Donald R. Askelan

This text provides an understanding of the relationship between structure, processing, and properties of materials. By selecting the appropriate topics from this wealth of material, instructors can emphasize metals, provide a general overview of materials, concentrate on mechanical behavior, or focus on physical properties. Since the book has more material than is needed for a one-semester course, students will also have a useful reference for subsequent courses in manufacturing, materials, design, or materials selection

Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Statics, 7th Edition Book Solutions Manual

F. P. Beer, E. R. Johnston Jr., E. R. Eisenberg, & G. H. Staab, ?Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Statics, 7/e? Book Solutions Manual
For the past forty years Beer and Johnston have been the uncontested leaders in the teaching of undergraduate engineering mechanics. Over the years their textbooks have introduced significant theoretical and pedagogical innovations in statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials education. At the same time, their careful presentation of content, unmatched levels of accuracy, and attention to detail have made their texts the standard for excellence. The new Seventh Edition of Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Statics continues this tradition. The seventh edition is complemented by a media and supplement package that is targeted to address core course needs for both the student and the instructor. Designed for the first courses in statics and dynamics offered in the sophomore or junior year, this textbook introduces vector analysis early and uses it throughout (a parallel text, Mechanics for Engineers, limits the use of vector algebra to the addition and subtraction of vectors, and omits vector differentiation entirely). Both sections of the book treat particles and rigid bodies separately (in part one, statics of particles are covered first), so that practical applications are introduced early on. Each chapter contains sample problems with solutions, end-of-chapter problems and computer problems, and a review and summary
